AHCA Answers Questions on Website Requirements

One of the items of Transparency in Health Care Bill (or CS/CS/HB 1175) that has many ASCs worried is the method to implement the provisions of lines 100-115 of the bill which require the posting of bundled payments on an ASC’s website.  This requirement will not be enforced July 1 because AHCA has not yet defined what bundled payments mean.

2016 Legislative Session Summary 3.25.2016

The 2016 Florida Legislative Session capped off a year of turmoil between the House and Senate with occasional disagreements with the Governor. The number of bills passed by the Legislature has seen a steady decline over the last ten years but it seems like there has been an increase in the number of health care measures.

Legislative Update 3.14.2016

The 2016 Florida Legislative Session ended last Friday. During this session, healthcare providers found themselves challenged with a host of issues as the legislative leadership attempted to steer Florida toward a more transparent and cost effective health care marketplace. There were many bills addressed this session in the area of health care and three of them dominated the discussions on the final day.

Legislative Update for 23 Hour Care, Transparency in Billing, and Balanced Billing

The 2016 Session continues to be one of the most intense in recent memory with a strong focus on health care and insurance issues. House and Senate leaders are trying to be more cooperative as compared to last session where they remained apart on several key budget and health care issues. Normally, for example, at this point in the session the Leaders would have come to agreement on big budget issues and they would be starting conference negotiations on resolving other budget differences. Because they remain apart on health care, taxes, education and business incentive funds, the budget process is being delayed


Two New Workers' Compensation Rules Completed

The Florida Division of Workers' Compensation recently completed work on revisions to the billing and reference rules needed to accompany the 2015 ASC Reimbursement Manual.  The rules are expected to go into effect in mid-January of 2016.
